GOVERNOR ROCHAS OKOROCHA DIRECTS THAT THE DAN ANYIAM STADIUM SHOULD BE RELEASED TO ALL POLITICAL PARTIES OR CANDIDATES FREE

In Continuation of his glaring high level Political tolerance since he became the governor of the State in 2011, His Excellency, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has directed that the Dan Anyiam Stadium should be released to Political Parties or Candidates wishing to do their rallies or carry out other Political activities at the Stadium free of any charge.

However, those using the Stadium should ensure its cleanliness and the protection of the facilities at the Stadium considering the huge amount the government had spent to rebuilt and service the Stadium.

The governor has taken this step to continue to promote healthy Political environment in the State and also in demonstration of his unbridled Political tolerance and that of his administration.

GOV. ROCHAS OKOROCHA LOCKED STADIUM AGAINST APC, DIVERTED MONEY MEANT FOR WORKERS - ADAMS OSHIOMHOLE

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has told the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, that President Muhammadu Buhari has adopted the governorship candidate of the state, Senator Hope Uzodinma.

Oshiomhole also accused Okorocha of frustrating the APC candidate, an action he described as anti-party.
The former Edo stated governor said that by denying Uzodinma use of the state’s stadium, the governor has shown he is working against the party.

The former labour leader, who spoke during the flag off of the APC campaign in Owerri, on Friday, also accused the governor of neglecting the people of the state with his style of governance.

He said, “Let me appreciate the members of the National Working Committee for coming to join the governorship candidate of our party, we approach with one simple message.

“It is a message of Hope, not a message of lamentation. I want you to listen because for me campaign is not about entertainment.

“Today, we have come to deliver the message of Hope although things have gone wrong in the past.

“We have come to return the government of Imo state to the great people of Imo state.

“We have come to tell you that we have respect for you people. The next governor in the person of Senator Hope Uzodimma will restore all that have been destroyed.

“Please Imo people cool temper. Today is a day to pass a message of Hope. Today we desire to talk to the young people especially to my fellow colleagues the civil servants.

“The days are gone for a governor who will look at people and say there is money to do other things and not to pay civil servants.

“I want to tell you that those governors that were given money including the governor of Imo state that did not use it for that purpose will be retrieved.

“Buhari has adopted Hope Uzodimma as the governor of Imo state. I want you to go and tell people what I said.

“Nigeria needs to produce political leaders that have political concentration.

“How will you believe that an APC governor will lock the stadium against an APC governorship candidate?

“It is the tax payers’ money that is used to build that stadium and not his personal money.”

"We call him Chanji because he regularly ‘changes’ wives. In my knowledge, he married at least 12 times, but other people say it could be up to 20 times.

“What we know is that he always keeps four wives in his house.

GOVERNOR ROCHAS OKOROCHA IS NOT CHIEF HOPE UZODINMA’S PROBLEM

PRESS RELEASE

-HIS PROBLEM IS WITH IMO PEOPLE WHO KNOW HIM VERY WELL & WHO WILL VOTE ON THE ELECTION DAY

-HE SHOULD BE HONEST TO HIMSELF & TO HIS SPONSORS

Adams Oshiomhole’s preferred governorship Candidate for All Progressives Congress, APC, Imo State, Chief Hope Uzodinma, has launched repeated media Campaign of Calumny against Governor Rochas Okorocha and giving the impression that his problem as the gubernatorial Candidate of Imo APC is the governor.

And we wish to quickly crave the indulgence of all men and women of truth to State as follows:-

(1)            Governor Rochas Okorocha is not the problem of Chief Hope Uzodinma as the APC governorship Candidate in the State.

(2)            The major problem Chief Uzodinma has is self-inflicted. Imo people who are going to vote on Election Day know him and he has the choking problem of how to convince them to vote for him to become their governor.

(3)            The latest story on the APC Candidate is that he has been banned from travelling out over allegation of treasury looting. It was not Okorocha who slammed the travel ban on him.

(4)            He is in Court over 12.5million dollars Contract. That does not concern Rochas.

(5)            He is in Court too over asset declaration issue. That has also nothing to do with Rochas.

(6)            Chief Uzodinma is also in court over issuance of Dud Cheque. This matter also has nothing to do with Rochas Okorocha, among other similar cases.

(7)            It is also not an oversight that the APC Candidate has not made his profile available for people to see.

(8)            Before now, Chief Uzodinma never attended any APC meeting in the State. He has never visited the governor either before or after he was handed over the ticket of the Party.

(9)            Chief Uzodinma went to the Senate in 2011 through the Court. In 2015, he knew how his victory also came. But this time, it is going to be a different ball game with strong governorship Candidates in AA, APGA, PDP, AP, LP, SDP, etc. Ahmed Gulak style or the 2015 stampede won’t be the case in 2019.

(10)      Imo people knew why they settled for Sam Mbakwe in 1979. And Evan Enwerem in 1991, Achike Udenwa in 1999, Ikedi Ohakim in 2007 and Rochas Okorocha in 2011. There are certain ugly stories they do not like to hear about anybody aspiring to govern them.

(11)      Chief Uzodinma should be courageous enough to tell those sponsoring him where the problem lies. It is not Rochas.

(12)      It is going to be easy to market Muhammadu Buhari and some other Candidates of the party. But for Chief Uzodinma it would require God talking from heaven and telling Imo people, “Chief Hope Uzodinma is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased” before Imo people could consider changing their minds. If not, Imo people know those who cannot be their governor. Chief Uzodinma knows this fact and he should stop using the governor to deceive his sponsors.

Former Manchester United Striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer named as Manchester united caretaker

Former Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks set to replace sacked manager Jose Mourinho until the end of the season after the Premier League strugglers appeared to accidentally announce his return.

Molde boss Solskjaer emerged as a serious caretaker candidate after the Red Devils announced they were looking to appoint an interim manager for the remainder of the campaign, with Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino reportedly the number one target in the off-season.
And United’s online team seemingly jumped the gun late on Tuesday when they uploaded a video – later deleted – to their official website, with the caption: “Solskjaer becomes our interim manager, 20 seasons after clinching the Treble with THAT goal at Camp Nou…”

Solskjaer spent 11 trophy-laden seasons at Old Trafford, where the 45-year-old won six Premier League titles and two FA Cups before he retired in 2007.

BREAKING: Man United Part Ways With Mourinho

Manchester United have decided to relieve Jose Mourinho's duties as manager with immediate effect.

This follows United's disappointing 3-1 loss to arch-rivals Liverpool last Sunday after which questions were raised on the team's listless performance. Mourinho has struggled this season with the team languishing in the 6th spot with just 26 points, a massive 19 points off league leaders Liverpool.

Off field fractions with star player Paul Pogba has not helped the Portuguese tactician either and he now finds himself out of a job.

"Manchester United announces that manager Jose Mourinho has left the club with immediate effect," a club statement read. "The club would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United and to wish him success in the future.

"A new caretaker manager will be appointed until the end of the current season, while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new, full-time manager."

Mourinho took over at the start of 2016-17 season where he managed to lead the team to a Europa League triumph. However, things have not gone to plan since, culminating in a terrible start to the current season.

Interestingly, he was sacked almost exactly three years back by Chelsea on 17 December 2015.

Dark Stories and Hidden Meanings Behind Nursery Rhymes

Dark Stories and Hidden Meanings Behind Nursery Rhymes
We all love nursery rhymes and lullabies, and our kids totally love them too! Singing them to/with your children can bring about oceans of fun as well as tons of other important benefits! But do you know the stories and meanings behind some of these nursery rhymes that you and your kids can’t seem to get enough of?

There is indeed more to these innocent songs than meets the eyes. In this post we explain the stories and true meanings behind some of the most popular children’s songs.

And mind you, most of these rhymes don’t seem to have the brightest origins!
Many of them have dark themes ranging from violence to persecution to death.

If you want to know more about the hidden meanings behind some of your favorite nursery rhymes, by all means read on!

1. Baa, Baa, Black Sheep (1744)

“Baa, Baa, Black Sheep” is arguably one of the most famous nursery rhyme in the world. But is this song about sheep? For several years, the song has been given a number of meanings by various interpreters. The most common of these meanings include the following:

The song was written as a protest against the medieval English wool trade tax of the 13th century. The wool trade was so big in England that King Edward I of England levied a heavy tax on it. Under the decree, a third of the money made from a sack went to King Edward I, with the remaining two thirds going to the farmer and the church, thereby leaving no money for “the little shepherd boy”.

Another possible interpretation of the rhyme is that it talks about slave trade. According to many, the reason why they believe the song is about slavery is because of the words “master” and “black” and is therefore racist and offensive to black people. The perceived racially offensive nature of the song has over the years led to many kindergarten teachers banning its lyrics or making it less offensive by replacing the word “black” with other words such as “happy”, “little”, and “sad”.

That said, it is worth taking note of the fact that there’s any concrete evidence to conclude that this traditional nursery rhyme is about the slave trade or about the heavy taxes placed on the medieval English wool trade.
Baa Baa Black Sheep | Story and Meaning

2. Jack and Jill (1777)

There are many theories regarding the origin and meaning of the lyrics of the traditional English nursery rhyme “Jack and Jill“. The song’s lyrics basically talk about two characters named Jack and Jill who climb up a hill to fetch water.
In the course of getting the water from the top of the hill, Jack falls down and sadly breaks his crown. Jill meets the same sad fate shortly after.

The most common interpretations of the lyrics include the following:
The characters Jack and Jill are often believed to represent King Louis XVI of France and his wife Marie Antoinette, Queen of France respectively.

King Louis XVI was beheaded by guillotine in 1793 (“Jack fell down and broke his crown”) and Marie Antoinette was beheaded some months later (“Jill came tumbling after”). This interpretation of the rhyme sounds very convincing, but the only problem with it is the fact that the earliest publication of the rhyme occurred in 1777, which happened almost three decades before Louis XVI and his wife Queen Marie Antoinette were executed in 1793.

Another popular theory regarding this children’s song is that it is about King Charles I of England and his plans to increase taxes imposed on alcoholic beverages.

After Charles’ attempt to levy higher taxes on alcohol was rejected by the Parliament of England, he  decided to go about achieving his aim in a very clever way by maintaining the tax rate on alcohol but ordering that the volume of a jack (also known as a ½ pint) and gill (Jill, a ¼ pint) be lowered.

He therefore succeeded in indirectly achieving a tax reform on alcoholic beverages despite being vetoed by Parliament. All in all, the “Jack fell” and “Jill came tumbling after”.

3. Three Blind Mice (1805)

“Three Blind Mice”, which is another rhyme whose writer(s) remain unknown, was first published in 1805. The song is reportedly about Queen Mary I of England (also known as “Bloody Mary”). The “farmer’s wife” in the lyrics is believed to be referring to Queen Mary I whereas the “three blind mice” is believed to refer to three Protestant bishops named Nicholas Radley, Hugh Latimer and Thomas Cranmer,

The Archbishop of Canterbury. These three bishops, who are famously known as the Oxford Martyrs, were burnt at the stake under the orders of Mary after they were found guilty of heresy. But were these men blinded before being executed?

The answer is no. Many suspect that the “blindness” of the three mice could have been created by crypto-Catholics, who saw Protestantism as a form of “blindness”.

London Bridge is falling down | Stories and Meanings

4. London Bridge Is Falling Down (1744)

The traditional English nursery rhyme “London Bridge Is Falling Down“, which is also known as just “London Bridge” or “My Fair Lady” was first published in 1744 by an unknown songwriter(s) and is often speculated to be about the numerous collapses of the famous medieval old London Bridge.

While the exact meaning of this rhyme isn’t known, many theories have over the years been brought forward about the meaning of the lyrics, almost all of which have a connection to London Bridge. Some of the most common of these theories include:

Some say the lyrics are about the Vikings’ alleged attack and destruction of the bridge in the early 1000s led by Olaf II of Norway 🇳🇴

There is also another very popular theory which says the lyrics of the rhyme are about the burying of children in the bridge’s foundations. According to this theory, this human sacrifice was offered to prevent the bridge from collapsing.

Some speculate that the children were buried alive under the bridge. However, till date, there isn’t any evidence to support this theory since there has never been any human bones found in the foundations of the bridge.

There is also the theory that the lyrics are about the destruction of the bridge by fire and age.

5. Humpty Dumpty (1797)

“Humpty Dumpty” is yet another nursery rhyme whose writer(s) are unknown. This rhyme, which was published in 1797, has lyrics that suggest that the character Humpty Dumpty is an egg, but stops short of explicitly stating that. This has led to many theories about the song’s lyrics. For example, one of the most common theories about this rhyme is that Humpty is none other than Richard III of England. The lyrics portray Richard as someone with a humpback who fell off the white courser he was riding (“the wall”) during the Battle of Bosworth Field in 1485 and was brutally killed. Despite the fact that Richard III actually got killed in the Battle of Bosworth Field, there’s no concrete evidence of how it actually happened.

6. Ring a Ring o’ Roses (1881)

When you sing “Ring a Ring o’ Roses“, which is also known as “Ring A Ring o’ Rosie” or “Ring Around the Rosie” with your children, all you probably think about is a group of children holding one another’s hands and having the fun of their lives as they sing and dance happily. But is this what the lyrics of this rhyme are really about?

According to many theories, this seemingly innocent and beautiful song has a very dark theme surrounding it – a theme of death – lots and lots of death.

Many experts believe that the lyrics of the song are about the horrible Black Death or the Great Plague of London that killed scores of people. The Great Plague claimed the lives of about 100,000 between 1665 and 1666 whereas the Black Death, which occurred between 1347 and 1351, resulted in the deaths of between 75 and 200 million people in Europe. Here are some of the lines and lyrics in Ring a Ring o’ Roses that many supporters of this theory use in backing their claim that the rhyme is about either the Great Plague or the Black Death:
“Pocket full of posies”:

During the outbreak of the plague in England, streets were literally littered with scores of dead bodies and people were forced to walk around with “posies” (sweet smelling flowers or herbs) stuffed in their pockets, which they used to mask the unbearable stench emanating from the dead bodies around them. Some also tried using the posies to protect themselves from catching the disease since many felt it could be spread through the air.

“Ashes, ashes”: To reduce the rapid spread of the infection, people were forced to burn or cremate the corpses of those who had died from the disease.

“Ring around the rosy”: One of the most prominent symptoms of the disease was a reddish ring-like rash on the skin. Hence the lyrics “Ring around the rosy”.

“We all fall down”: The line “we all fall down” refers to the fact that the plague led to the death of a very significant percentage of the world’s population. It is believed that Europe alone lost between 30 and 60% of its entire population to the Black Death.

7. Little Boy Blue (1744)

“Little Boy Blue” is another famous nursery rhyme whose writer(s) are unknown. This rhyme first appeared in print in 1744’s Tommy Thumb’s Song Book.

The Little Boy Blue in the lyrics of the song is believed to refer to the famed English Cardinal Thomas Wolsey. Wolsey, whose father was said to have been a butcher, is believed to have worked as a herdsman in charge of his father’s livestock before being ordained as a priest. That said, there is no solid evidence to support the claims that Wolsey worked as a herdsman.

8. Rock-a-bye Baby (1765)

“Rock-a-bye Baby” is not only a great nursery rhyme but also an amazing lullaby. This song, which was first published in 1765’s Mother Goose’s Melody, has a number of theories that explain its origin. These theories include the following:

It was written by a 17th century English immigrant in America who was filled with surprise upon seeing the interesting way in which native-American mothers placed their babies in cradles made from birch bark and hung them from tree branches (“Rock-a-bye baby, on the treetop”).

Native-American mothers had several reasons why they engaged in the odd practice of suspending their babies from tree branches. One such reason was that it not only gave the mothers freedom while working but it also allowed them to enjoy some peace of mind during work knowing that their babies wouldn’t be attacked by animals. Another reason was that when the babies were suspended from trees, the blowing of the wind would often rock them to sleep (“When the wind blows the cradle will rock”). Despite the advantages this Native American custom came with, it also brought with it a number of disadvantages, most notably the fact that it was dangerous to the baby.

In the event that the tree branch from which the cradle was suspended got broken, the baby could fall down (“When the wind bough breaks the cradle will fall”) be severely injured or die.

The second theory about the meaning of “Rock-a-bye Baby” is that the baby referred to in the lyrics of the song is James Francis Edward, who was one of the children of King James II of England and his wife Mary of Modena. According to legend, Edward wasn’t the real son of James II and Mary

. These stories claim he was the son of another man, who was cleverly smuggled into the royal birthing chamber because the real child of James II was stillborn. This was allegedly done so that the king could get a Catholic heir. The “wind” in the song likely refers to the opposition the family members of King James II gave him.

The third theory regarding this rhyme is that the lyrics are inspired by a very common ritual practiced in the 17th century in which mothers whose newborn babies had died would place them in a basket and suspend the basket from a tree branch in the hope that they would come back to life.

Rock-a-bye Baby | Stories and Meaning

9. Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary (1744)

If you think the nursery rhyme “Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary” is a beautiful, innocent children’s song about flowers and gardening, you might just have to think again, for this rhyme is yet another one on our list with a lot of darkness surrounding its lyrics. Like the lyrics of majority of popular traditional rhymes, various theories have been brought forward to explain their meaning. The most popular of these theories include:

Many believe the lyrics of the song are purely about Mary I of England (Bloody Mary) who ruled as Queen of England and Ireland from 1553 until 1558, during which she executed hundreds of religious dissenters (mainly Protestants) by burning them alive at the stake.

The word “contrary” from the lyrics makes reference to her ruthless rule. The line “How does your garden grow?” is believed to refer to her inability to give birth to living children. The line “silver bells and cockle shells” are speculated to refer to the torture instruments she used in torturing many of the people she murdered. The line “pretty maids all in a row” is believed to either refer to the numerous miscarriages that Mary suffered during her lifetime or her beheading of her own half-sister Lady Jane Grey, who reigned as de facto Queen of England and Ireland from 10 July 1553 – 19 July 1553.

The lyrics are also said to have a connection to Catholicism, with “Mary” referring to the mother of Jesus Christ, the “bells” making reference to the altar (sanctus) bells or cathedral bells, and the “pretty maids” also making reference to nuns.

Another common theory suggests that the song is about Mary, Queen of Scots (also known as Mary I), who reigned as Queen of Scotland from 1542 to 1567. The line “how does your garden grow” makes references to Mary’s reign over Scotland whereas the line “pretty maids all in a row” refers to her court ladies.

The 1957 American film titled The Truth About Mother Goose claims that the “cockle shells” refer to Mary’s fondness for various kinds of exotic foods, including cockles.
The film also went on to claim that the “silver bells” in the rhyme refer to the elaborate decorations often seen on Mary’s clothes.

10. Old Mother Hubbard (1805)

Is the famous nineteenth century nursery rhyme “Old Mother Hubbard” really just about a mother and a dog? Many don’t think that is what this rhyme penned by Sarah Catherine Martin is about.

According to one of the most popular theories regarding the meaning of the lyrics of the rhyme, the Old Mother Hubbard is neither a mother nor a woman. This theory speculates that the lyrics are about Cardinal Thomas Wolsey and his refusal to grant Henry VIII of England divorce from his first wife Catherine of Aragon. Another quite common theory claims the lyrics have some connection with Saint Hubertus (also known as Hubert), the patron saint of hunters.

11. Goosey Goosey Gander (1784)
The lyrics of “Goosey Goosey

Gander”, which were written by an unknown writer(s), mean more than just having a connection to birds. Since these lyrics were first published over 2 centuries ago, several different interpretations regarding their true meaning have been propagated. The most common of them include the following:

The lyrics are about priest holes (priest closets). A priest hole was a secret chamber built into certain Catholic houses in England as a place for Roman Catholic priests to hide during the 16th and 17th centuries when they were facing widespread persecution by the authorities under the reigns of King Henry VIII and Oliver Cromwell.
Another common interpretation of “Goosey Goosey Gander” is that its lyrics have a strong connection with prostitution.

According to English historian Chris Roberts, in the 18th century, prostitutes were commonly called “geese”. And Since the phrase “lady chamber” refers to a woman’s bedroom or private room, the rhyme’s line “in my lady’s chamber” is speculated to be making reference to the bedroom of a prostitute. It is worth noting that even until this day, the word “goose” still has some sexual connotations to it.

12. Oranges and Lemons (1744)
Traditionally, the lyrics of
“Oranges and Lemons” are considered to be about the numerous church bells in and around the City of London. However, many theories don’t agree with this innocent and beautiful meaning of the song. Over the years, there have been several different interpretations of the lyrics of this popular children’s song which was first published in 1744.

These interpretations are as follows:
Some suggest that the lyrics are about the numerous marital challenges of Henry VIII of England. Henry was married six times to six different women.
According to another popular interpretation, “Oranges and Lemons” is a wedding song that has very strong sexual overtones to it. For example, “here comes a chopper to chop off your head” makes reference to the bride losing her virginity.

Another noteworthy interpretation is that the song is about public executions. During these executions, the condemned prisoner is marched past several famous churches (St. Clements, St. Martin’s, Old Bailey and Stepney) in London on his way to the place where his/her execution will take place. The line “here comes a chopper to chop off your head” refers to the process of finally executing the prisoner by beheading him/her.

13. Ladybird, Ladybird (1744)
“Ladybird, Ladybird” has lyrics that are believed to be about the gruesome persecutions and execution of Catholics in England during the 16th century – a period when many priests were burned alive at the stake simply because they refuse giving up their Catholic faith

Give me more time, (president Muhammadu Buhari) tells Nigerians on his 76th birthday.

As President Muhammadu Buhari clocked 76 years on Monday, he asked for more understanding, time and prayers from Nigerians.

Buhari spoke at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, shortly after the 203-member Guards Brigade held a special parade to honour him.

Apart from the parade performance, there was rendition of birthday songs.

The event took place at the Fore Court of the Presidential Villa.

Speaking with State House correspondents after the ceremonies were concluded, Buhari said he was impressed with his aides, who put the event together.

“Well, I am impressed with it, they (aides) have put a lot of time behind it, I thank and appreciate them very much”, he said.

Looking ahead, the president said he would keep reminding Nigerians about where he met the country in 2015 and where he had now taken it.

He explained, “We will keep reminding Nigerians about what we have done, how we met the country, what we have been able to do for the time we came in to now with the resources available to us.”

Buhari specifically appealed to Nigerians to give him more time and to pray for him.

“Nigerians should continue to pray for me and understand my intentions and give me time,” the president said, as he switched to the Hausa language

ASUU strike: FG reveals when students will return to class

The Federal Government has said that talks with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have so far been fruitful, expressing optimism that the ongoing strike by the university teachers, will soon be called off.

According to the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, this is predicated on the FG’s consideration of some of ASUU’s demands, including the submission of the union’s list of outstanding payments, and the identification of some areas in the universities in need of revitalisation as contained in the signed 2009 agreement.

Ngige said: “There are areas that are still outstanding which we are going to address on the 17th. We have the issue of shortfall of salaries, that of some federal university workers.

ASUU has given a list to the office of the Accountant General.

“We agreed that by Wednesday that the list will be checked to find out really whether those universities were actually paid and they have to be visited and paid the outstanding lecturers there. So, the Accountant General’s office is to come back to us.

“We have also the issue of Earned Academic Allowance and the issue of revitalisation. These are issues of 2009 agreement.

We will look into the consideration and we have identified one area of the fund for revitalisation.

“The federal government organs will be contacted and we do expect that we will have some words for ASUU.

Same goes for the earned allowances. We will make sure that the issue of the outstanding amounts is handled in a way that all parties will be properly accommodated,” he said.

Ngige revealed that during the talks, the quality of graduates from state-owned universities was brought to focus, with a view to upgrading the standard of education in order to meet with global standards.

“We also discussed the issue of state universities and since education is on concurrent list, the universities should be properly funded and staffed, so that we do not produce half baked graduates from those universities.

And towards realising that, the ministry of education will engage the Nigeria Governors’ Forum. The minister of education is taking steps towards that direction and will organise that interaction.

“Engaging them directly and giving professional advice is what the ministry will do. These are some of the issues we discussed and to me; the discussions were fruitful. We want the children to go back to school,” he added.

IMO STATE UNIVERSITY WINS THE 2018 NDDC MOOT COURT AND MOCK TRIALS COMPETITION

It was a dream come through on the 11th day of December as IMO STATE UNIVERSITY was announced the winner of the NDDC moot court and mock trials competition at Rivers State University

All thanks goes to our God Almighty for always answering our prayers anytime we call him...

I, on behalf of the Law Students Association IMSU also wishes to use this medium to appreciate the Dean Of Law, Imo State University Prof. Ine Nnadi for the love, care and concern she gears towards the welfare and Academic growth of students... We love you Ma..
Not leaving our Amiable Staff Adviser Chuks Dom-Chima out of this, with his hand always

stretched in help of anyone and every one, he accompanied the team representing IMSU to Rivers State for the competition and brooded over us a hen would do over her eggs... we love you sir.

We also thank Chinenyeze Amaechi Ph.D immensely for his time, mental and financial resources spent to ensure our victory. We love you Sir.

To our coaches, the Gold smiths who moulded the team. We can't thank you enough for your time, money and celebral resources spent in pursuit of this victory.. We love you soooo much:

Home:

Otitodiri OnyemaPh.D
Amara Oti-Onyema esq.
Uzochukwu Ibekwe esq
Abroad:

Emmanuel Uwadoka esq.

Special Thanks goes to Emmanuel Uwadoka esq and Amara Onyema esq for the exceptional assistance, for the careful guidelines and for their burning interest for their Alma Mata, Imo State University. May God bless you. Amen.

To the team that represented Imo State University:

John Okorie 500lvl(Lead Counsel): A dugged, dedicated, result oriented, resilient and focused young man. The fomer Chief Judge of Law Students Association IMSU and present Director for Moots and Mocks.

He was the best person to handle the legal weapons we were armed with by our coaches.

Playful and Cheerful but very serious when need be. His gesticulations, his command of english, his courage, his grip of latiin maxims, statutory authorities,

decided cases, obiters and ratios won us the day... Not forgetting the stress he passed through while we prepared, John had to trek from IMSU back gate to Imo High Court because he did not have money for

transportation, he had only 20naira which he gave a beggar around cherubim Junction as he trekked.

Funny enough he got to the court before me that entered bus and neither was he down cast nor did he let his status kill his zeal... That same day we got favours from everywhere and everyone we encountered.

We stayed up late at night for research and compilation of our reponse to the Preliminary objection, most times we forgot that we hadn't eaten, it was as though a prophet told us that we were going to win but that the only way it would come through was to prepare very well.

It was two(2) straight weeks of serious prepping,
It was two (2) straight weeks of self denial,
It was two(2) straight weeks of brainstorming,
it was two(2) staright weeks dedicated to NDDC..
Thank you very much man.. May God bless you...
Rex Uwadoka 400lvl(Co counsel):

Yours truly did what he does best, setting a target and achieveing it.
John would be in the best position to write for me..

Chiamaka Achor 500lvl(Co counsel): She is my highest ranking appointee (LAWSA Chief Judge) and was in the team I was previleged to select to represent IMSU.

She was part of the hustle and bustle during the prepping. She was aswell instrumental to our success... Thank you My Lord.
Onyeka Ibebuchi 500lvl(DW1): Onyeka appeared as a witness in the person of Major Dasuki Mohammadu.

He appeared in the Military Uniform to the excitement of both Judges and the gallery.

His potbelly and Okonkwoish walking step made his military character seem real.. He studied virtually everything about the Nigerian Army and played his role wonderfully during cross examination where one Uwa Osagie the lead counsel for

UniBen asked him questions like:

1. How many ranks are in the Nigerian Army?? Onyeka started lecturing the court of Commissioned and non-commissioned officers oh.. like one kyn old soldier like that

2. What are the three ranks below you?? Onyeka answered very correctly..

3. You say you are a military man, spell your name in military language... Na so Onyeka confuse ..

His saving grace was that John immediately objected to the relevance of the question to the suit quoting section 1(1) of the evidence act.

Andthe objection was sustained....
He is result oriented, he is calm, he is a good man, he is cool headed and goes for the knowledge not minding who is giving it... God bless you Sir
Ogu Chidiebere A.K.A MOG 400lvl

(DW2): Ogu appeared as Mr. Abayomi Oyewole, Director in the Federal Ministry of Environment and the head of the Rivers State Office of the Federal Ministry of Environment. Ogu was a part of the process, he was very much prepared to play his role very well.

Unfortunately we were asked to field only one witness so we went with Major Dasuki. Having Ogu in your team is like having an extra propeller... he is goal driven and result oriented... just give him a chance and go to sleep.. Ogu would perform..

Maxwell Immanuel 200lvl (Research Assistance): Maxwell was actually God sent. We kept strictly to the rules by going with only 5people not knowing that no other school would do same... it was to my greatest surprise that some schools came with as much as 13 students.

So Maxwell immediately landed in the hotel as soon as we arrived. He quickly blended into the team and was brought abreast with all what we were doing. Since we had no printer, he was incharge of reproducing by writing online cases or cases from books on A4 papers... he played a very important role.. God bless you Brother...

We were to meet Igbinedion University at round 1 but i guess they saw our reponse to their preliminary objection and advised themself 藍. Response that was a collabo of Emmanuel Uwadoka Esq., Amara Onyema Esq. and F.A. Onuzulike Esq....
So we were then paired against against Delta State University led by one Michael Okoye. We won them and moved to the final round..

We were then paired against UNIBEN. Where we were defendants and UNIBEN, plaintiff.
We sent them packing and clinched the award of 1million naira cash prize...

All Glory goes to God almighty for the wonderful outing..

Long live LAWSA IMSU
Long live NDDC
Long live Imo State University
Long live Nigeria
