Politics is a game. And like every other game, when one is done playing, he goes home.
Ideally, it is supposed to be a peaceful process through which we come to grasp with leadership responsibilities; a deliberate attempt to serve than be served. But what we have today is the direct opposite; an open disaster.
Politics has become a desperate and considerably dangerous affair, a dreaded ground trod by those with dead conscience.
Today brothers turn enemies in the name of this game. In the course of this game, people are haunted, maimed and killed. Even loyalty to the gamers has drained our sanity. It is increasingly shameful how supporters menacingly attack one another in the name of solidarity and support for their masters. How on earth did we get here?
They give you stipend just enough to buy marijuana or any other substance capable of taking away your humanity and then unleash you like a drugged hound against your brother, friend or kinsman. Back from the operation a succesful killer, you clap your blood stained hands in victory hoping that your master will reward you. That's a big joke! He would give you nothing but crumbs; just something to stay alive so your cursed life doesnt end yet. Meanwhile you have made someone's daughter a widow and taken away a family's breadwinner. Your action has just increased the number of suffering children and elevated Nigeria's position on the global poverty index. Tufiakwa! How did we get here?
Supporters of politicians have today become like rivers that dare not meet! These arguably may have been one time friends, colleagues or comrades. How did we get here?
Because of politics, you think no leader is good. They summon you and tell you their interest to run for an office and the only way their interest can make sense is if you are able to intelligently write essays that attack and hopefully destroy the reputation of previous or incumbent occupants of that office. How on earth did we get here?
If they give you petrol and fire and send you at night after an unsuspecting family with the specific instruction to ensure no one escapes including the new born baby. After burning them in their sleep I hope you and your entire generation yet unborn find sleep in this life! How on earth can we be like this?
Just like every other game, are we not supposed to go home peacefully after playing politics? Why do we play it in such a manner that threatens our peace? Why does political maturity equal wickedness and callousness?
The time to sober reflect is now. Love your brother above politics or perish with the love for politics above brotherhood. I am not one of those emerging politicians or political supporters who go about acquiring more enemies than friends.
Let's have a rethink..
I am
